A triplet of Birthday Butterflies

A quick posting from me. Just like when you "Batch" cook you can make cards in batches too. So I have a showing of triplet cards for you today. All similar and with their own idiosyncrasies!

 Here they are:

A card idea from Sue Wilson and these were quite simple to make and whilst I was making one, I decided to make a few. It uses the Butterfly striplet die from Sue Wilson as well as a Configurations lace die and a cut up and re-past of St Barts die.

OK, You begin by using the outer cutting die of the Butterfly striplet to cut pieces of GLOSSY paper. It has to be GLOSSY card as the next step won't work as well if you use other types of card.

Using any of your Adirondack (or any brand) alcohol inks you spot the colours  all over the cut piece of GLOSSY card and they spread themselves out creating this glorious coloured background and it's as simple as that. They all come out looking slightly different even when you use the same coloured inks.

Let these dry and as you wait cut out of white card stock the other dies in the striplet set including the 4 butterflies that match the rest of the die.

JUST A NOTE: when cutting out the main body of the striplet die keep the bits (sometimes called the die confetti) - just the butterfly pieces and glue them back into the die cut.

Then bend and fold a little area on the middle of the separate butterflies and glue them to the striplet as shown here on this photograph over their matching partners.

By doing this you add a little dimension as the wings look like they are flapping!












Then using the St. Barts die from the Caribbean collection cut two in white card stock. Then guillotine them down the centre (north to south); place the two halves together and then cut a little off. Stick them back together on the back with tape.
Then  cut them in the middle again this time west to east, place the two halves together and then cut a little off. Stick them back together on the back with tape. You end up with a longer die cut as a backdrop for your butterflies.

Note sure you can see this too well from the photo as the cuts get hidden by the next step which is to cut the Configuration Charming Lace die twice (one for each side). Then put them together one on top of the other using a strong glue.


I then added all that had been created so far to my card base, with a few pearls, one in each corner.

I used an oval die from one of the Noble die sets (Classic adorned rectangles)  and stamped an image using one of Phill's stamp sets (see the ingredients list below for details) than inked it using blue Cosmic cloud.

A BENDI card for Emelia's Birthday

Hello my Blogging Friends and Family. It seems March is a key birthday month in our family we have about 5 birthdays to celebrate and today's card for little Emelia (my Niece) in Germany is no exception.

Today's card is currently in the post winging its way over to Germany, so I thought I'd share it with you. It is my first BENDI card and I was very inspired by a version of this card on Pinterest and all the instructions were on Splitcoaststampers. CLICK HERE.

It's the first time I have used Flower soft too and it makes the blossom on the trees look very realistic I think.
The grass die is from Cottage Cutz as is the Trio of Deer - in fact I think most of the dies I used to make this card are either Cottage Cutz or Memory Box dies!

I took a few pictures, WARNING this blog is a bit photo heavy.

Close up of the Deer - I dotted them using a white Signo, uni-ball broad nibbed pen. I used a Swiss Dots embossing folder and inked it with an Old Tea distress ink pad. The little birds (Resting Birds) were cut from scraps of paper from my stash and I tucked one of them up into the tree.

Here's the card in side view so you can see how each of the "Arms" on each side of the card are overlapping so that it stands.

This photo looks down on the card and again you can see the structure of the BENDI card a little better.

When you open up the side "Arms" you get to see inside the card - its quite interactive and gives a nice 3D effect. You can see on of the trees on the main inner panel this is the Grand Oak Tree by memory Box and you can just see the swing too.

Here is the inside main panel. You cannot see the clouds to well, I used a Sizzix stamp set (Welcome Home stamp and die set) and used a Memento Pale Blue ink Pad. The bike is also a Memory Box die too.

I just loved the little goat. I made a fence using little lolly sticks and also punched out some leaves to look like bushes under the second tree using pieces of cardstock from my stash. Great way to use up your spare bits and bobs. Isn't the little goat cute? I used a couple of brown/earth coloured Copic markers to give him some definition.

So here is the card opened out fully - it stands well on its own as you train the sides to remain curved.

A Birthday Card in Mustard

Hello blogging friends and Family. I hope you had a lovely weekend. I was very lucky to spend my Birthday weekend down in Sydney with Tiffany, Jim and our two Grandchildren Marley and Harry.
Frits my husband is working overseas at the moment so it was lovely not to have to spend the Saturday on my own.

As it happens I have been making a few Birthday cards and today's card is one too.

Here it is:

You can now see why I called my post a Birthday card in mustard. Although in real life it is more of a pumpkin colour. The base is made from an American Crafts cream/vanilla piece of card stock and then I used Kaisercraft Spiced Pumpkin weave card stock. The dies are both from Sue Wilson's New Zealand collection.

I used the Sue Wilson rectangle stitched dies to make the borders.

I cut out the  top most layer of spiced pumpkin with the Auckland die and then cut out a cream piece using the
Hamilton die - which is really gorgeous.

I used the outer die to cut a pumpkin background which I had stuck double sided tape to and then sprinkled it with Cosmic Shimmer Diamond Snow.

The sentiment is an old on from my stash which I cut using one of the smaller dies in the set.

I added some little pearl hearts in each of the corners to finish the card off.

The flowers were made using Heartfelt creations Delightful Daisy dies which I sprinkled with glue and glitter  (Details below). The leaves were heat embossed using white embossing powder and then coloured using Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint distress inks.
I filled the flowers with Prills and the stamens from the Arianna Bloom die set.
