A Birthday Card in Blue and White

I did have a great evening in my craft room and I think this next card that I am going to show you is one of my favourites. I was inspired by something I saw on Sunrise Crafts UK website - by the way a great place to buy your crafting gear with a great selection of Creative Expressions and Heartfelt Creations products - go take a look! The postage is one price from the UK which is handy if you are buying a few things together!

So here is my card:

It's such a great card to  make too. It combines a Spellbinders die at the centre with Heartfelt Creations flower die and a Sue Wilson embossing folder.

I used the Creative Expression Sue Wilson A4 Floral Brocade embossing folder with a piece of shimmery light cream (milk coloured) cardstock again that I have had for eons in my craft cupboard. The card base was made using American Crafts white cardstock, For the matting layer in between the card base and the embossed layer was a piece of plain cardstock which I  coloured just the edges of using the same dark blue distressed ink that I has used elsewhere on the card.

Here's the flower. OK, so I used the Delightful Daisies HFC stamps and heat embossed them having used a Versamark ink pad and white embossing powder. Then coloured them with Chipped Sapphire and Stormy sky distress inks.

The leaves, I think are gorgeous and were again heat embossed in white and then coloured with Peeled Paint and Crushed Olive distress inks.

At the back of the flower is the Adrianna lace die.

The flower on the bottom right of the card was made in exactly the same way as the other flower using some of the other smaller stamps.

I added an 8mm pearl to the centre of the flowers.

It is the Spellbinders Foliage Lattice die in the centre which I believe makes the card. I die cut it out, embossed it using the appropriate rubber mat and embossing plate then whilst it was still in the die I coloured it with the same dark blue distressed ink that I had used on the flowers - the Chipped Sapphire colour. When it was dry I also used Glossy accents to give parts of the die some dimension too,
The sentiment in the middle is an old sticker my mum gave to me, many years ago now, that was in my stash - it seemed to fit just right into the centre there.

And there you have it!

The main ingredients that I used to make this card were:

I hope you like this card as much as I do - it came together very quickly and I think the results speak for themselves!
