A Primrose card in the round

Wow! Did we have a doozy of a storm here! Here in Dorrigo we have broken records about rainfall in February. We had all kinds of winds and were off power for 36 hours. We have now ordered a little Generator as this is the second time we have been off the grid for longer than 24 hours. Frits tells me that in one day we had 332mm and up until 24th February we have had 698.5mm of rainfall. The previous record was in 2003 when the wettest February monthly total was 523mm with the wettest day dropping 240mm.

Rain has paused and we are told to expect another drop pretty soon, so we'll wait and see. The road between us and the town is closed as it has disappeared over the edge. We made a dash into town today (making sure we stayed as close to the safe edge as possible) to pick up some groceries as we don't know when the road will open!

Fortunately we can get down the Mountain to Coffs Harbour by avoiding both Dorrigo and Bellingen which is handy when we need to get out to get to work! WE hope that particular back road remains available to us through the National Rain Forest.

I'll keep you posted with updates.

Here's the card I wanted to share with you today. (I also have a quick video as well!)

I have photographed it onto a black background so that you might see it better.

I was playing with my Spellbinders Dies and used the Grand Decorative Circles One. This die creates a lovely patterned edge.

The video shows you how I backed it to make the card.

In the ingredients list shown below you can see what Design Papers I used. In this case I also used a Marij Rahder 3D Decoupage A4 sheet
# 2575.

Here is the video I took of this card:

Flip Cards are easier than you might think!

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope your day is either going well and/or gone well, such that you are now taking a load off and relaxing!

You may have noticed that I have added a Tab at the top of my Blog, next to the "Home" tag. I was chatting with a friend and they suggested putting my card commissions onto one page so that people can see them together. Always willing to listen and learn from feedback, I have created a page to do just that. Have a look if you have a minute!

I have also been experimenting with my Spellbinders Dies. I have noticed that Flip Cards are very popular at the moment. There are dies - Sizzix for instance, kindly provide them; that enable you to create this style of card.  I decided to see if I could use my Spellbinders Dies to create them and I have four cards to show you today that show you the results of my playtime! I also made a video of them as well - it shows the mechanism a lot clearer than a photo image.

This is the front of the first attempt I made of this style of card. All the cards shown here were made from Cream Quill Multiboard 210gsm acid free card stock.

For this card I used the Kaisercraft Pink Gelato 6.5" Paper Pad for my background papers.

The decoupage is a Marij Rahder A4 sheet #2571.

The Spellbinders die I used was Labels Eight S5-019.

As a final touch I used Ranger Gold Liquid Pearls.

The inside of the card shows the use of the Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight Die  S5-148.

Card number two.
On top of the base card I used a Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings 6.5" Paper pad. It has some great foil edges at the back of the pad that can be cut into strips and used, as I have done here, as a side feature.

The Spellbinders Dies used were, Grand Ovals, Large Ovals and Lacey Ovals.

The stickers are from K & Company and I used DCWV card stock underneath them.

The inside of card number two shows more of the stickers used as well as the pearls added as a final embellishment.

This is card number three.
On top of the base card I used a Kaisercraft Tigerlily 6.5" Paper pad as well as another of the strips from the sweet nothings pad.

The Spellbinders Dies used were, Grand labels Twenty Three as well as the standard Labels Twenty Three dies.

The decoupage is a Marij Rahder A4 sheet #2573.

The inside of card number three.
I added some little pink wired butterflies, I have had these for ages and they seemed to fit this card, apologies I cannot remember where I purchased them. I do know you can get them in craft stores.

... and to card number four.

For this card I used the Kaisercraft The Lake House 6.5" Paper Pad for my background papers.

The decoupage is a Marij Rahder A4 sheet #2575 and I used some Judikins Diamond Glaze to add an enamel layer to these decoupage embellishments.

The Spellbinders die I used was Labels Grand Labels Eleven LF-246.

I again used Ranger Gold Liquid Pearls to add a little feature to the card as a final touch.

The inside shows another strip from the Sweet Nothings Paper Pad as well as how I decorated the reverse Flip.

I used the two smallest dies in the series of the Spellbinders Grand Eleven Dies.

If you are curious about the dimensions I used as well as a first introduction into making them with your Spellbinders dies, then this may be helpful to you. I also refer to it on the attached video clip.

A Card bound for Canada

Hello my Blogging friends how are you today? It's a bit wet here today, not at all an Australian Summer; but then we are known for our extremes with hot and cold weather! Fires then Floods then Fires again - Mother Nature doin' her thing!

I have a Z card and a Video (which I filmed on January 1st!!!) of it to show you today.
I made this particular card for a Mum in Canada. I haven't made one of these in a while; in fact my first Blog (13th May 2012) was of this style of card ---> See Here.

My brief was that the Card would need to have lots of Yellow and make reference to her fondness for Crosswords.

I used Kaisercraft Liquorice Weave card stock for the base of the card. The Mustard yellow card stock is from a DCWV 12 x 12 Mat stack pack. The Pale blue Yellow Rose Paper was from a HOTP 12 x 12 Paper Pad.

I used a QuicKutz Banana Split Skinni Mini Alphabet die set, for the words.

You can also see I picked up a Doily from my local Coffee shop (I have bought a pack since!!!!).

I have taken shots of each of the three panels on the inside as well as those on the other side. This is the front and the first panel. This card has a secret pocket in the last panel.

I know how this lovely lady always looks so presentable on her visits here to Australia, so I thought to reference this with this little ensemble.

I used an old template to create the three pieces; and decorated them with the gold mirror card offcuts of a hole punch that I had collected (we crafters don't waste a thing - I kept them in a little tin!!!). Three little gold ribbons and this panel was done.

This is the last panel (and pocket) of the card which also hold the secret panel.

I decorated the panel with Spellbinders Cuckoo Clock S5-075, Bird Sanctuary S5-033 and a Marianne Die - "Just for You" and created the words on my PC and fussy cut them out. I used Antique Linen Distress ink pad on the edges and a few pearls in the corners of the tag.

The feathers came in a bag of feathers from a craft store.

Here is the front of the panel. a few stickers, a paper rosette and we're done.

The back of the panel I covered with a sheet of Design Paper that looks like a crossword from Kaisercraft Miss Match 6.5 inch Paper Pad.

Once the writing panel is in the pocket you see the back of the last panel has a wooden Maple leave (very Canadian!!) on the reverse. I coloured this using a R29 Copic marker.

The back of the middle panel was covered with pale blue HOTP Design Paper and has a Memory Box La Rue Heart (#98255) with a Gold Ribbon attached.

And lastly the back of the front panel. A Many Happy Returns Sticker (apologies cannot remember where I bought this) with another Memory Box Die - Catalina Wreath (#98189). I also added a few Kaisercraft White Pearls of different sizes to various parts of the cut out.

The Video clip I promised you: I have kept this for a while as I filmed it on New Years Day!

Here are the main ingredients for this card:
