A "Delft Blue" Birthday Card

Hello my blogging friends and Family, I trust you are enjoying your Saturday.

Today is my nephew James' birthday and my sister Clare and I were chatting, saying how amazing it was that he'd reached the age of 25 already!!!! Oh my!

I have a card and a video to show you today, I called it a "Delft Blue" card ... at a guess because it is in this lovely powder blue colour, which I used as a foil for the white cardstock used for the card base.

Here it is:

I made the base using white cardstock and a piece of this beautiful powder blue cardstock which comes in an American Crafts paper pack. The matted layer on top I paper pierced around the edges using a Tim Holtz ruler.

I used the blue cardstock, creating the top blue layer and passed it through a Sue Wilson A4 Rambling Blossom embossing folder. I applied foam tape to the back to give the card a slightly raised dimension when it was adhered to the main part of the card. On the top and bottom of this layer I added the French Collection border die which I cut slightly less wide than the full die in white cardstock and then added a row of tiny pearls.

In the central space I used the Caribbean Collection St Kitts die  which I cut in white cardstock and backed with the blue.

On each side I wove two pieces I cut out using the Caribbean Collection St. Lucia die.

I used the smallest die from the Spellbinders Oval Floral set to cut out my Just Rite Stamp sentiment which I stamped with Memento Black Tuxedo ink and then inked the edges with stormy blue distressed ink.

Then I cut a piece from the pierced flag die set and wove this between the other die pieces; adding a few pearls on each side.

It's a really pretty card.

While my camera was up I made a short film clip; here it is:

A Birthday card with "Foldover" Flowers

Hello my blogging friends and family. I hope I find you in good spirits looking forward to a great weekend. The weather here is very wintery so it invites spending time on hobbies and the like - for me, after doing all the usual weekend jobs around the house it's into the crafty space!!

Speaking of which, the card I have here is one I made last weekend:

This card became a personal favourite as I was making it. It began by using a piece of cardstock from a Megs Garden paper pack which was a lovely pale green and ochre colour. I used Frayed Burlap to ink the edges.

The central panel I made using a piece from a Kaisercraft Pink Gelato paper pad. I cut it out using the the largest cutting die from the Spellbinders Triple Floral set. I cut the outer edge to sit on the top of this square using foam. I placed the edge of the die as close to the edge of the paper as possible, so I can use the centre for the mat and then fussy cut the outside to include the dotted edge, so this could sit proud.

Inside the square I used the Sue Wilson  Petite Arched Adornment die to make the two pieces I adhered to the top and bottom of the diamond shape of the square in white cardstock. Inside was just the right amount of space for the Sue Wilson Happy Birthday sentiment, also cut out in white cardstock.

I cut two pieces in white cardstock using the Heartfelt Creations "Raindrops on Roses" die. I cut each of them exactly in half and these fitted on the edges of the square die cut perfectly.

Using more of the same cardstock I used on the card I created several "Foldover" flowers.

Sue Wilson shows how these can be made on one of her YouTube Videos:

I added a couple of dandelion clocks and some quilted leaves. I have referenced these dies in the ingredients list below.

Whilst I had the camera up I also made a video of this card. If you'd like to see this check this out:

A lilac and white Happy Birthday card

Hello there. How are you?
Isn't our perspective of time funny sometimes? You know as in - funny-strange! I was talking to a colleague and he said something to the effect that we needed to have a skype call at the end of the month. I immediately think - oh OK, sure, that's some time away.... then I looked in my diary and NO! it's next week!!!! People say time flies but when did it start to just evaporate??

At the weekend I managed to spend some time in my crafty space. I enjoyed just pottering around and doing some sorting and organising as well as also making a couple of cards.

This is the first of those that I am able to show you. Frits my lovely husband set up my camera so  I was able to create a short YouTube video which I have linked to this blog. I haven't created any videos for about a year simply because I didn't have a video camera. The one Frits had has a wide angle lens so it will take me some time to get used to using it.

Here's my card:

I used some white cardstock and die cut the outer part of the Canadian Collection Background die. This really informs the size of the card.

I pierced the edges using a Tim Holtz ruler and pokey tool.

I backed it using a piece of this lovely lilac cardstock from the American Crafts pack that I have.

I added foam tape behind this and placed it on another pierced mat layer.

Little pearls were added to the centre of the flowers on the frame. to add  little dimension.

I stamp all four parts of the Marianne Design stamp as one piece using a purple stazon ink pad onto a piece of white card stock. Once stamped I use the die again to provide a means of knowing where to fussy cut it out to fit into the space in the centre of the flower frame.

The flowers were made using the Sue Wilson foldover dies and the same coloured cardstock as used in the main card. I also used the Dandelion clocks dies, colouring the ends with copic pens. as well as adding a couple of leaves.

At the bottom of the card I made a little sentiment. It's a JustRite Stamp (is anyone else devastated that they are closing????) black memento ink pad with the stamp image cut out, added to white cardstock and fussy cut with some Armada paper shaper "Stamp" scissors.

As promised here is the YouTube clip that I also made of this card:
