We have arrived in Nairobi

Hi, it's been a while since I last wrote here and I hope you have been safe and sound in the meantime. Today I want to share some photos of where we are staying in Nairobi. It is a beautiful spot and we just love staying at this hotel. The Fairview Hotel just outside of the city.

Our flight here took us from Sydney to Changi Airport in Singapore, then to London Heathrow (where we had a fabulous shower in  arrivals) and then onto Jomo Kenyatta airport in Nairobi Kenya.

It's July 25th and here am I at London Heathrow for our 5 hour stop over. The Union Jack can be found everywhere, and there is a real buzz in the air, with the anticipation of the Olympics soon to begin.
We are just off to find arrivals to have a nice shower.

We then leave London Heathrow at 10.00am in the morning and we get to Nairobi after an eight hour flight. Our first stop is the Ole-Sereni Hotel on the Mombasa road, about 10 minutes from the Airport. We are only there for a quick visit before moving onto the Fairview Hotel.

Here is a picture of the main part of the Fairview Hotel. There are two main blocks separated by the Ngong 2 public road (pronounced Nong) the hotle is situated on approximately 5 acres of land. We are very familiar with this place as we have been coming here on and off for the last 17 years!!!!

Here is the lobby, the checking in desk is on the right hidden just out of sight. Ahead you can see the Mitende Atrium Restaurant which is where we mostly have our breakfast at the weekends, we leave just a fraction too early in the mornings to eat Breakfast here Monday thru Friday.

This is the Mukatan Restaurant and does THE MOST FABULOUS home made baguettes, sandwiches and our favourite Sushi! Yum!!!
This is a particularly lovely place to sit as you look across at a gorgeous water feature ....

let me show you ....

It is so relaxing, my photo doesn't really do the place justice, the constant running water is just so restful.

You've guessed right; this is our room number. All the rooms in the hotel are numbered thus. They are Ostrich eggs and are hand painted by a lady from South Africa.

This is the view from our Bedroom. The hedges you can see are either side of the road I mentioned earlier so we are situated in the block across from the main Hotel.
You can see the Sunflower sitting on our window ledge.

The gardens are amazing. Herbs, strawberries and lettuce are grown for the kitchens in the grounds and they are kept immaculately by the proud Groundsmen.

Our room has three parts, the sleeping area shown here. Around on the left (out of sight) is the large wardrobe space.

Then here is Frits in our Kitchenette, diner and sitting area.

Lastly our Bathroom - which is HUGE. To the right of the "Glass wall" (you can just see the marble edge of it in this picture) is the shower.

Lovely eh? All the modern conveniences you could wish for.

Last picture - just another of the lovely grounds behind the main pool area. We have a smaller pool in our block of the hotel too, which is lovely and quiet and just serves the people residing in that block.

That's all for now, as the signal here is a little intermittent and it takes a while to create a post because of that. I hope you have enjoyed seeing where we will be spending the next 5 weeks. We have been here a week and a half now and we are really enjoying the country, the city and of course the people.

Take care and until the next time, be safe and be happy.
