A pink pinwheel birthday card

Can you believe that it is the 31st July already? I know I've seen many Christmas in July sales and thought little of them ... Some companies have even been showcasing their Christmas products. Maybe this will encourage me to get ahead with my Christmas card making!!

I know that this evening when I briefly popped outside there was the most amazing Full, bright moon - just stunning in the night sky.

Today's card is a fun one in a mix of pink colours - here it is:

The base of my card was white cardstock. In making the first matting layer, I added 0.5 inch double sided tape to all the edges of a piece of American Craft pink cardstock then sprinkled and burnished Iced snow onto it.

I used a piece of taupe cardstock from an AC cardstock pack then embossed it with a Sue Wilson A4 knotted Trellis embossing folder. I added foam underneath to add dimension and on top added a Bo Bunny Crystal rhinestone.

The central pinwheel is made from a Sue Wilson Quilted Blocks striplet die; cutting this twice, in two different tones of pink and backing them with the taupe cardstock and then cutting them into squares (you end up with removing the centre piece as it is a different pattern to the two ends which are the ones you keep and use!) Lay them out using glue dots so you can reposition if needed, then I added a piece of Really Reasonable ribbon on top of the pinwheel.

I used the smallest die of the Sue Wilson Noble collection classic adorned die, cutting it in white and backing it with the darker of the two pink tones.
The sentiment was one from my stash.

On the inside of the card I used the Sue Wilson expressions sentiment.

Here are the main ingredients that I used to make this card:

Thanks for reading today's blog, I hope you like my card

  2. Ooooh Pearl that's a really nice die set and who can resist butterflies. I have a few dies from other brands of butterflies, so I will have to think about that purchasing decision for a while! Thanks for the suggestion though - I'd love to be able to see what you do with them. Take Care....
